Wedding look book- P+S
A beautiful June Sunday morning in North Texas set the scene for what was to be a dreamy, outdoor wedding. The bride’s vision was clear: an intimate evening under the stars, illuminated by romantic lights and surrounded by loved ones. We had planned every detail to bring her vision to life, and everything seemed to be falling into place—until North Texas weather decided to keep us on our toes.
In wedding planning, flexibility is key, but sometimes the unexpected truly tests your resolve. That morning, something in me—call it intuition or divine nudge—said to bring extra help. My husband, a true MVP, joined the team as backup, ready for anything that might come our way. Little did we know how much his help would be needed.
We spent hours setting up a stunning family-style table for 70 guests. The bride, a romantic straight out of a Disney movie, dreamed of a magical atmosphere, and I was fully in sync with her vision. She even had a pianist perform “This Is What Dreams Are Made Of” from The Lizzie McGuire Movie after the ceremony—a perfect reflection of her personality and the joy of the day.
As the setup progressed, ominous clouds began to roll in. Rain wasn’t in the forecast, but we quickly moved to Plan B: shifting the tables under the patio for cover. Just as we started, a powerful storm front with high winds swept through, scattering linens, shattering glassware, and chargers. Thankfully, we hadn’t set out the 200+ candles or bud vases yet, sparing us a bigger cleanup.
In those moments of chaos, I witnessed the true magic of teamwork. My husband and the catering team hustled to clean up and move everything inside—squeezing 8-foot tables through tiny doors—to execute Plan C. Meanwhile, I updated the bride and groom. They could see the storm outside but remained calm and focused on what truly mattered: their love and the commitment they were about to make.
The ceremony, delayed just 30 minutes, was moved to a quaint chapel nearby. As rain fell, we passed out umbrellas and made our way to the chapel. The ceremony itself was nothing short of blissful, and as the couple exchanged vows and beautiful cultural traditions, the storm began to clear. When we stepped outside, the sky was painted with the most breathtaking sunset—a reminder that beauty often follows life’s storms.
From there, the celebration continued indoors. Guests danced the night away, and the joy in the room was palpable. The bride and groom, P + S, radiated love and gratitude, proving that even when plans change, the heart of the day remains untouched.
As a planner, this wedding reinforced why I love what I do. It’s not about perfection; it’s about creating moments of connection, resilience, and joy—even in the face of a storm. Thank you, P + S, for trusting me to bring your vision to life. It was an honor to witness your love story unfold.
